Shadoe GoatDog!

Shadoe is a wonderful up-and-coming goat dog...

In this series Shadoe herds the goats across Casa Del Oro 

in Eldorado and back to GoatCamp for break...

Shadoe spent a few months working mostly on her own with me in Eldorado last summer...

I really like how she gently and easily loops around the herd keeping them organized and on track...

Curly, the Guardian Maremma, follows along behind, keeping the rear safe from predators...

The lead goats don't like the dog coming in too close, but she does not back down or push too hard...

A lot of what she does in subtle and simply shows the goats which way is easier and which is too hard..

With Doonie the Quarab gently, but firmly, bringing up the rear the troop continues together to the edge of the road...

After the herd bunches at the edge of the road Shadoe comes in and pressures the group across...

Switching back to make sure the last goats don't slow down too much...

Shadoe stands on the white line of safety, letting the crew idle into their pen...

Here, pictured around 10 months, is a fantastic active GoatHerd Dog...

Summertime in the Land of Enchantment

Well, here I am catching up on hot and cold running internet at Santa Fe Farmers Market's 

Cafe FRESH... ( THE place for fancy coffee, Taos Cow Icecream, and most importantly, the Green Drink (a Local ingredients Smoothie production)... 

The Summer is heating up and market festivities such as our May Day celebration are up and coming..

Back at the farm the local feral horse herd has been visiting our own working crew many mornings...

We have had to round up Dozer a few times as he has made a project of taking leadership of the local "wild" ones. 

He has several mares that have just about moved in...

Snakes have begun to emerge from the earth in full strength...

Shadoe is a keen snake scout and alerts me to their presence...

 Shadoe uses caution when pointing out rattlers to me...

Doggo is careful too, though she has met enough individuals to know wether they are dangerous or not. 

This big Diamondback is quite respectful and after a few clicks I respected his presence as well and moved my dog pack on...

The Llamas have had a great time learning our local range. They come home to visit about every other day now.. I always love to see them out browsing the sock stickers and ragweed... Eventually they will join the crew lending a bit of LlamaScaping to our land care routine... 

What a sight those camelids would be working alongside the goats at the Santa Fe Skies RV Park!

We have very much enjoyed our work at the RV Park... 

The people are great and many guests have seen GoatScaping across the country in their travels and are always happily grinning when they see the crew at work here in New Mexico.

Aphid explosions are feeding a healthy population of Lady Bugs... always a good sign when the smallest of lives are so valued and respected.
